Tariq’s Story
Tariq Dharshi
Assistant Branch Manager, Calgary Alberta, Canada
I first heard about Enterprise while working at a local hotel during university. Enterprise operated a rental counter at the hotel, and I was so impressed by the fun-loving spirit and professionalism of the employees that I applied for and was hired as a customer service representative.
Today, I am an Assistant Manager at the Calgary Airport, Enterprise’s largest Canadian branch. Throughout my career with Enterprise I’ve had the opportunity to learn many aspects of the business, and each experience has prepared me to move to the next level of my career. My managers have always kept my strengths and interests in mind while helping me achieve my goals, and now I try to do the same as I inspire and motivate my employees to someday run their own businesses.
To me, the real success of a career at Enterprise comes from building relationships – with our customers, fellow employees, business partners and communities. One of my most rewarding experiences with the company was when we hand delivered fruit pies to each of our insurance adjusters over the holidays last year. They were surprised and grateful that we had thought to show our appreciation through a gift they could share with their families. But for us, making those personal connections is all a part of how we do business.
One of Enterprise’s founding values is “our doors are always open,” and that value is alive and well at the Calgary Airport branch. The diversity of our staff reflects the diversity of our customers and our community. People from all ethnic backgrounds and nationalities visit and live in Calgary. The fact that our staff is made up of individuals from a variety of backgrounds who are fluent in multiple languages helps us provide the highest possible level of service to our customers.
When I am not working, I love to travel. I have been to every continent in the world except Antarctica. And while I have enjoyed my travels to Singapore, Australia/New Zealand and Europe, I also love to travel within my own country of Canada. In fact, one of the things I enjoy most about working at the airport branch is talking to my customers about their travels in and around Calgary. They often visit places I have never explored on my own.
The Enterprise culture is unique because even as our business continues to grow, the emphasis remains on our team of employees and the support we give each other in meeting and exceeding each of our customer’s expectations. I am proud to be a part of a company that respects its employees and provides the support and opportunity for them to grow and succeed in their careers.
